Sweetwater Speedway
Cruiser Meeting and Rules Update
A meeting was held on October 29th to discuss the proposed rules for the Cruiser Class at Sweetwater Speedway. Promoter Kara Beech stated that she was glad to see so many people come to the meeting. She presented the rules along with information on the IMCA Sport Compact Rules and the RMR Hornet Rules. While rules are similar, there were differences that were discussed. This was done to make the process easier if the track ever made the decision to sanction the class with IMCA. She also stated that with RMR closing there were several drivers that may be interested in traveling to race or even sell their Hornets for a very reasonable price. Several cars have been listed on KSL in the $600-$800 range for a complete car.
Beech stated that she wanted drivers in this class to remember that this is a beginner class. These are cars you race, not race cars. These should be factory stock cars with safety equipment installed, no high performance engines or suspensions.
The group was excited to see this class have renewed interest at the track and it looks like there are at least 10 cars in the making. For updated rules, check out the Sweetwater Speedway website Driver Info section or follow this link.
